An individual who laced candy with sedative and distributed them to minors at a summer program in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males aged between nine and ten.
Jon Ruben was detained after eight youngsters and an older person fell ill at the location in mid-summer.
The senior citizen, from that region, admitted guilt to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was concerning a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was kept in jail ahead of a subsequent court date on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She explained his those affected were children from difficult backgrounds who were participating in a youth camp which he ran.
The defendant engaged in a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were preparing to sleep and tell them to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings Ruben had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and children had previously become sick the next day.
She explained Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his family member had worries in summer 2025.
Mrs Prior KC added: "Recently" his family member had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel said objects including baby oil, ointment and syringes were found, and his stepson notified the authorities about his worries.
She said Ruben continued to engage in the "candy game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all sick the following morning.
"The police had not arrived by that time," she stated further.
The police watchdog, the investigative body, previously told that it was investigating law enforcement's management of the events.
The legal representative explained the minors were struggling to walk due to their condition, so the stepson contacted the police again.
She stated the defendant then played the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
